Rolling Vacations’ Fire-Grilled Sandwich Stackers

3 slices of cheddar or mozzarella cheese
-
1 tomato, sliced
-
1/2 onion, thinly sliced (optional)
-
Butter
-
Mustard or mayo (optional)
Instructions:
-
Butter one side of each bread slice. The buttered sides will face out when you grill.
-
Layer it up:
-
Bread (buttered side out)
-
Cheese
-
Bacon or ham
-
Tomato
-
Onion (if using)
-
Another slice of cheese
-
Top bread (buttered side out)
-
-
Grill over the fire:
Place the sandwich in a cast iron pan or campfire sandwich press. Cook 2–3 minutes per side until golden brown and cheese is melted. -
Slice and serve hot!
Add mustard or mayo after grilling if you like, or keep it classic and melted.
Camp Tip from Rolling Vacations: Stack your sandwiches in foil and press them with a heavy skillet over the fire for a rustic panini-style finish!
